What Are The Basic Styles Of Men’s Sweaters?

Sweaters are very practical items. In spring and autumn, they can be worn as a small jacket with a shirt, or as an inner layer with a jacket or coat. There are many styles and ways to wear them, and they can provide a more casual feel when worn with a suit jacket.

How are sweaters classified?

To briefly describe the classification of sweaters, they can be roughly divided into four aspects: collar style, front style, cutting line, and texture.

Collar style

There are several types of collar types: round collar pullover – V-neck pullover – high-neck pullover – small lapel

Front style

There are several types of front styles: pullover – button – zipper

Crop lines

Cutting lines include: loose – slim – tight

Too loose sweaters look old-fashioned; tight sweaters are more suitable for inner wear, but they can be slightly embarrassing when the coat is taken off; slim sweaters are generally suitable for inner wear and can be worn alone, with the highest versatility and practicality.

Texture and texture

There are many weaving patterns for sweaters, including several styles: plain weave (similar to no pattern) – simple weave – more complex weave

II. What are the basic sweaters?

1. Zipper sweater

First, let’s talk about a sweater with a low mention rate, the zipper style. There are two types of zipper styles, half-open (lower left) and half-open (lower right).

It can be worn with or without a tie for optimal style.

Although it’s cold now, you don’t need to wear your suit jacket with stiff lapels in an attempt to look professional; alternatively pair a jacket with loafers and khaki trousers for a more laidback and relaxed look.

Hannibal features an earthy palette in its male lead character Uncle Ba.

2. Green fruit collar sweater

A sweater with a green collar can replace a jacket, but it is also more casual and not part of the suit system.

The cardigan with a green fruit collar is generally thicker than the V-neck style, making it suitable for making a coat.

Wear it with jeans.

The green fruit collar sweater actually has a vintage flavor, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s version of “The Great Gatsby” has this style, which is more vintage when paired with a shirt and tie.

When the temperature is not too low, I like to wear a green fruit collar at home or in casual wear (the photo below is a selfie with a low-quality camera). The sweater is soft and comfortable, unlike a suit that feels restrictive. The turned-down collar of the sweater matches the coat well, providing warmth to the back of the neck.

I personally recommend the above two styles, which are not widely worn and are relatively niche styles.

3. Pullover V-neck sweater

There are two styles of pullover sweaters. V-neck designs can be worn both casually and formally; pair it with matching trousers for an elegant look.

When temperatures become slightly chilly, layer up with a jacket, windbreaker or coat.

4. Pullover round neck sweater

Turtlenecks tend to be worn more casually and most commonly without a tie.

Nowadays, many men also sport round-necked sweaters with loosely pulled-out tie knots for an odd yet popular look. Though this may look awkward or feel cumbersome on the neck, this trend remains popular and widely adopted.

5. Cardigan

Cardigans are one of the most versatile V-neck button-down sweaters, frequently made of lightweight fabrics like rayon or rayon/nylon blends and suitable for wearing over a shirt, suit jacket or windbreaker.

This style of cardigan is mature and stable. Three years ago, it would have been considered a style of “old cadre”, such as this:

Nowadays, the rustic style has turned into fashion!

6. High-neck sweater

The biggest function of the high-neck sweater in autumn and winter is to keep warm, and it is suitable for matching with suits and jackets.
