Over the years, parents are paying greater attention to providing their children with appropriate hats, as they know hats can protect their heads effectively while offering both sun protection in summer and warmth in winter; as well as playing an essential role in their healthy development. At the hat factory where I work we have seen an increasing number of orders for children’s hats; however due to children having specific needs we still find differences when customizing hats for adults and customizing for kids – here are a few.
Customizing hats for children is about meeting safety standards, not placing children in any immediate harm’s way. Adult sun hats typically feature windproof chin straps which do not trap necks of small children causing suffocation; therefore regular brands of children’s hats usually do not include such straps; if adding one is absolutely necessary then an anti-suffocation device must also be added on it to minimize risk of choking hazards caused by being strangled by it.
Another important aspect of hats for children’s health and safety is the fabric of the hat. In order to protect the health of children’s heads, the fabric of children’s hats usually needs to be tested by professional institutions, such as formaldehyde content, pH value and other indicators that must meet national standards. Therefore, in the company where the author works, the fabric requirements for children’s hats are the highest, not only for good quality, but also for having inspection reports.
The stitching of hats requires the use of sewing needles, so after the finished product is completed, needle inspection is also an essential step for children’s hats. Needle inspection is to check whether the finished product contains metal objects such as needles that can easily harm children. Nowadays, most regular hat factories have needle inspection machines. Children’s hats have the most stringent requirements for needle inspection.
When designing hats, we need to ensure that they fully meet the safety and health requirements for children’s hats before further designing and developing the hat patterns and styles to make them more cute, childlike, and popular among children.
